Notes from GHI’s Sep 18th Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) Meeting

Note: The Long-Range Planning Committee is next scheduled to meet on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. in the Administration Building boardroom.

Committee co-chair Paul Kapfer opened the meeting with a review of the evening’s agenda.

The LRPC, Audit Committee, and attending members completed a round of introductions. Attending member Patricia Novinski volunteered to join the LRPC so her name will be forwarded to GHI Board President Steve Skolnik for consideration.

Kapfer noted that he and co-chair Cynthia Newcomer will take turns leading the meetings and the meeting format is generally split between matters involving data gathering/organization and considering potential initiatives.

Notes from GHI’s Aug 14th Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) Meeting

GHI’s Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) held its second meeting on Tuesday, August 14th.

Neron Adams-Escalera, Director of Member Services, gave a presentation on the listserv technology that some GHI committees are using for collaboration.

The committee then debated how to moderate posts by GHI members. Some committee members preferred to review comments before approving/rejecting them while others preferred unmoderated posting with the option to remove inappropriate (spam, malware, foul language, etc.) content. Neron noted that any approved post that was then deleted by moderators would still be archived.

The committee agreed to start with unmoderated posts then revisit the policy as-needed. As new requests to join the listserv are received, Neron will confirm GHI membership status before requests are approved.

GHI’s new Long-Range Planning Committee (LRPC) held its first meeting on Tuesday, July 31st.

(!) Why it matters This meeting will discuss the committee’s charter, processes, and more. The Board and LRPC will work very closely together — four current Board members are on the committee — to identify opportunities and challenges then plan for action. Everything members care about (forested spaces, co-op revenue, frame and masonry home maintenance, etc.) could be part of the committee’s focus so its work is worth your time and sustained attention.
